Today this is our second activity! The counselors were responsible for this event. There were four levels, as they defined them.

Classy Counselors

Our counselors have always invented something unusual. Look at their labels 'Free Hugs'! Just for fun!

Around the USA in One Hour

Our traditional activity has started!

Five teachers representing the five regions of the USA prepared many exciting tasks for the campers.

Five different stations have been organized.

The long-awaited activity at last! Water throwing on a hot day is a real fun!

But before the fun the campers were reminded to follow certain rules:

Go through the escape entrance!
Don't block the main entrance!
Wipe dry the floor after the activity!

Quotation of Day 18

First Mr and Miss Narn Sun

Never before there has been such an event: choosing Mr and Miss Summer Camp!

Each team did a great job. The contestants were supported by their teams. Everybody took part in the competition that could be compared to the concert.

During the first round the contestants danced, recited, sang. They are so talented!

The second round turned out rather difficult: the would-to-be Mr or Miss Camp was to mime the quotation of the day and the Mr or Miss was to guess.

The third prize went to Dayana and Ayuka from the "Red Team".
The second prize went to Ayush and lera from "Cotton Kids" "White Team'.
The winners are the contestants from the Honey Bees "Yellow Team". They are Lyuba and Vitaliy!

Volleyball

Volleyball can be played anywhere and at any time. The campers enjoy playing this exciting game!

Jack Be Friendly: Tamara

Tamara K substituted Andrey. The campers learned a lot and they finished the lesson with the chant:

Jack, be friendly,
Don't be shy,
Don't forget to say good-bye!

Creativity: Baira

"Cotton Kids" is the name of Baira's team. But at her lessons all campers have become 'cotton kids': they have created these wonderful things.

Give me a Home: Bakul

The campers explored the USA Regions through the famous song and the notion of 'home'. They gave their own definitions of an ideal home.

"Home on the Range" is the state song of Kansas. Do you want to listen to the song?

Quotation of Day 17

Important For Speech

I enjoyed that workshop by Svetlana Suchkova very much. Svetlana invited her audience to join her fascinating lessons by miming, reciting, standing up, etc. Svetlana is a real teacher and teacher trainer!

Fabulous Fay Fence

David Fay, English Language Officer, (The ELO, Moscow) presented one format of teaching/learning in such a fabulous way that we gave him a thunderous ovation! He spoke of public hearing. David used the old case of the installation Running Fence. During his speech we made a 'clothes line' of a perfect teacher's qualities.

Under the Linden

Chelyabinsk has become a city of linden for me! The sweet smell of the trees is amazingly pleasant.

Do the newly-wed couples come to the museum in your town or city? In Chelyabinsk they do!

Quotation of Day 16

Academic Literacy

One of the plenary sessions

I think everybody was fascinated and charmed by Irina Korotkina. She spoke about the importance of academic literacy. I found only the article in Russian.

English Unlimited

I liked the workshop devoted to the new course. Two charming ladies - two Ludmilas - told us about it.

Technology-Enhanced Teaching English

I attended one of the eight Special Interest Groups Sessions.

One of the most hard-working NATE participants was Valerian Tukbaev from Zlatoust. He seemed to appear almost at each workshop!

Dr. Stephen Hoyt spoke about "Teaching English Online".

Natalya Patyaeva from Nizhniy Novgorod used blogs to teach business communication English.

We were lucky to hear Christine Coombe, TESOL President Elect, from Dubai Men's College.

You can download her PowerPoint presentation "Teacher Effectiveness: A Review of the Literature" that describes 10 characteristics here.

After Access Panel

Everything went according to the schedule. Though we didn't have enough time, I hope we managed to impress the audience.

We exchanged visiting cards. Vivien asked about Bossia and Vasili Ivanovich.

I am using the WiFi Internet.

Karaoke Day

It was another unusual day.

From NATE Chelyabinsk

We're going to the registration. The programme is so fascinating that we can't decide how to attend everything!

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

Besides artistical, there were also speed competitions. The aim of the first competition was to tape up someone's hand, the winner of which became yellow team. In second competition campers had to wrap someone with paper. The quickest wrappers were white team.
Event was funny and interesting

It was another unusual day.
Preparations to this event started from the beggining of the day.
There were crappled and wounded children everywhere in the camp. It was really shock for me. But when I saw them smiling and frockling, I understood what matters.
Everyone had an opportunuty to demonstrate their artistic abilities and fantasy. So,

First place - Anira
Second place - Alina
Third place- Djiga

Prizes were thematic - gematogens.
We iterviewed the winner of this contest, Anira: "I'm so happy to be the first. Abilities which I got in the art school helped me. I like such creative contests."

Quotation of Day 14

Work, Work and Work

Bakul and Tatiana are working at their report at the airport. They are very busy preparing the presentation on Lessons in Kindness.

From Moscow with Love and Care

Hi from the very centre of Moscow from Andrey Vladimirovich and Valentina M S! I see that you've managed to publish your first post! We've had a nice time finding a free WiFi cafe in the centre of the Russian capital. Now we have only 30 minutes.

Remember to make photos smaller! Be active and initiative! Interview as many campers as possible!

Drinking a strawberry milkshake and thinking about the Summer Camp! Hugs and kisses!

Quotation of Day

Sports Day: Dodgeball

Our campers call this game as "Snipers". Actually, it's a variation of dodgeball. Players try to hit other players with balls and avoid being hit.

The counselors prepared tasty prizes.
  • The 1st prize goes to "New England" (The Yellow Team").
  • The 2nd prize goes to "The South" ("The White Team").
  • The 3rd prize goes to "The Middle Atlantic " ("The Grey Team").

Recreation in the South: Baira

The rap ballad "I'll Be Missing You" topped many charts across the world. There exist several different versions of this song.
